About the service

Personalised, structured Auslan support

Auslan Tutoring offers personalised, structured support for students learning Auslan, with a strong focus on building confidence in grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and visual communication.

Each session helps learners deepen their understanding of key linguistic features including:

  • Handshape
  • Movement
  • Location
  • Orientation
  • Non-manual signals

Students also strengthen skills in:

  • Topic–comment grammar
  • Role shift
  • Depicting signs
  • Spatial referencing

Tutoring includes guided practice, vocabulary building, real-world conversation, storytelling, Deaf culture, and visual literacy.

Sessions are tailored to each learner's goals, whether preparing for assessments, reinforcing classroom learning, improving everyday communication, or supporting families with Deaf children.

The overall aim is to build confidence, fluency, and accuracy in Auslan in a supportive and accessible learning environment.
