Deaf Awareness Training & Introduction to Auslan

A structured group workshop (4 hours or 2 × 2 hours) that builds Deaf awareness and introduces Auslan for organisations, schools, businesses, and community groups.

The Deafingo Workshop is an interactive session that introduces participants to Auslan while building a deeper understanding of Deaf and Hard of Hearing experiences. You'll explore how hearing works, understand the impacts of hearing loss on language, behaviour, and wellbeing, and address stereotypes, accessibility, and assistive technologies.

8 Week Program – 2 Hours per Week

Introduction to Auslan

An 8-week program (2 hours per week) teaching foundational signs for everyday community interactions — ideal for workplaces, education, and families.

Join us for an Introduction to Auslan, where participants will learn foundational signs that can be used confidently in everyday community interactions. This includes the Auslan alphabet, basic greetings, and essential conversational signs. Delivered as a structured weekly program to build confidence over time.

Speak clearly and face the person

I need to see your face and hear you clearly — don't cover your mouth when speaking.

One speaker at a time

Only one person can speak to me at a time. Multiple voices make it impossible to follow.

Check for understanding

Miscommunication happens easily. Confirm what was said — don't assume I heard correctly.

Respect Deaf culture
